Green Cathedral & The Pavilion Weddings

Natural. Special. Meaningful.

Some wedding locations feel designed.

Others feel discovered.

Green Cathedral feels like nature accidentally created the perfect wedding ceremony space.

Tucked amongst towering trees and overlooking the water, it's one of the most unique ceremony locations I've photographed anywhere in New South Wales.

Combined with a relaxed waterfront reception at The Pavilion, it creates a wedding experience that feels peaceful, intentional and deeply connected to the surrounding landscape.

Why Couples Choose Forster

Forster sits in a category of its own.

It offers something that can be difficult to find elsewhere.

The best of both worlds.

Coastal beauty.

Dense greenery.

Quiet beaches.

Protected waterways.

Wide open landscapes.

And perhaps most importantly, a slower pace.

Everything feels a little calmer here.

A little more intentional.

A little less rushed.

What Makes Green Cathedral So Special?

The first thing that stands out is the balance.

Most ceremony locations lean heavily into one environment.

A church.

A garden.

A beach.

Green Cathedral somehow manages to combine several.

Towering natural greenery surrounds the ceremony space.

Water sits nearby.

The entire location feels protected and purposeful without feeling manufactured.

It's one of the few places I've photographed where you can experience beautiful water views both east and west within minutes of each other.

And because the structure is built into the landscape rather than imposed upon it, the setting feels timeless.

The Kind Of Couple This Suits

Green Cathedral is perfect for couples who:

  • Love nature
  • Want a meaningful ceremony experience
  • Appreciate greenery and coastal scenery equally
  • Prefer relaxed celebrations
  • Value connection over spectacle

Despite its name, Green Cathedral isn't exclusively for religious weddings.

Around half the weddings I've photographed here haven't been religious at all.

The location simply creates a beautiful environment for couples to tell their story.

The Wedding Day

The day begins quietly.

I typically arrive early to scout the location and check the light.

One of the things I love about Green Cathedral is that the focus naturally stays on the couple.

The ceremony feels meaningful.

Personal.

Grounded.

Afterwards, we move quickly through the group photos before sending guests off toward the reception.

That's when one of my favourite parts of the day begins.

A Photographer's Dream

Within minutes, you can access an incredible variety of natural scenery.

Dense greenery.

Forest paths.

Coastal landscapes.

Water views.

Beach scenes.

Sunset locations.

And they're all close together.

That's one of the venue's hidden strengths.

You don't spend half the day travelling between locations.

You simply move through different environments naturally.

Why I Love Photographing Here

The balance.

That's what makes Green Cathedral so unique.

I can photograph couples surrounded by towering greenery one moment.

Then have them standing barefoot near the ocean the next.

And later, finish the evening with sunset reflections dancing across the water.

Very few locations offer that kind of variety so efficiently.

My Favourite Memory

One of my favourite memories of the featured wedding wasn't actually a photo.

After the ceremony and before we started couple portraits, I noticed the newlyweds spending time with their daughter.

There was no rush.

No pressure.

Just genuine connection.

Instead of interrupting, I simply let the moment unfold.

Watching them embrace and enjoy each other felt incredibly wholesome.

It's those moments that often end up meaning the most.

My Favourite Photo Location

Oddly enough, my favourite location wasn't the beach.

Or the sunset.

Or even the water.

It was back at Green Cathedral itself.

After all the guests had left, I asked the couple to walk back down the aisle together one more time.

They laughed.

They celebrated.

They dipped each other dramatically at the end of the aisle.

And for a moment, the entire space belonged to them.

That photograph perfectly captures the feeling of the venue.

The Pavilion Reception

The Pavilion complements Green Cathedral beautifully.

The open layout.

The waterfront views.

The relaxed atmosphere.

And of course, the sunsets.

The venue never tries to compete with the surroundings.

Instead, it embraces them.

The focus stays where it belongs.

On the people.

On the conversations.

On the celebrations.

What Couples Don't Realise

Many couples assume Green Cathedral is more manicured than it actually is.

In reality, it's wonderfully natural.

Rugged in places.

Wild in others.

Nature plays a significant role in shaping every wedding here.

And that's part of its charm.

No two weddings ever look exactly the same.

What Photographers Need To Know

Green Cathedral rewards photographers who understand natural light.

The dense tree canopy creates beautiful atmosphere but can also limit available light.

The nearby beaches can be windy.

The coastline is expansive.

Knowing where to go and when to go there makes a huge difference.

Understanding the environment allows photographers to make the most of what nature provides.

Who Is This Not For?

Couples looking for:

  • Climate-controlled comfort
  • Fully indoor experiences
  • Highly polished luxury environments
  • Complete protection from the elements

may prefer another style of venue.

Green Cathedral embraces nature.

And nature comes with unpredictability.

Final Thoughts

A Green Cathedral wedding is special because nature decides what the photos will look like.

The light changes.

The weather changes.

The landscape changes.

And somehow, that makes every wedding feel completely original.

The location provides the foundation.

The couple provides the story.

Nature takes care of the rest.
